Two days in Rabat: heritage and culture

Two days let you separate old-city landmarks from cultural visits. Spend the first around Hassan and the Oudayas, then dedicate the second to Chellah and one museum. Keep the trip from becoming a race.

Organise your outing

Day 1: leave time for the medina between Hassan and the Oudayas. Day 2: start with Chellah and allow for transport to the museum. Mohammed VI Museum is listed as closed on Tuesdays; reverse the days if needed. Keep the evening free for a meal or short walk.

Places to explore

01
The unfinished minaret and its column-lined esplanade are defining landmarks of Rabat. Combine your visit with the nearby Mohammed V Mausoleum.
02
Ramparts, lanes and gardens make the Kasbah a rewarding stop on foot. Start here before continuing towards the medina or the coast.
03
An archaeological site whose remains tell several chapters of history. Give it a dedicated visit with time to explore the paths at your own pace.
04
A starting point for modern and contemporary art. Choose a visit around the exhibition programme and linger with the works that catch your eye.
