Plan your visit
Keep these pointers handy before arrival: your journey, budget, bookings and the small questions that make a day more comfortable.

Start with your arrival point and neighbourhood, then choose two or three nearby stops. A simple programme leaves room for travel, breaks and unexpected discoveries.

Arrival and getting around
From the airport, compare the shuttle and taxi according to arrival time and destination. Our transport guide covers published shuttle fares, stations, trams and buses. For Al Boraq, select Rabat Agdal; Rabat Ville is a different station.
Treat the journey to your accommodation as a separate step. Do not fill the first day before allowing for arrival time, waiting and luggage-drop arrangements.
Plan a realistic day
Group visits by neighbourhood: the medina and Oudayas can form one sequence, while Agdal or the coast need a chosen journey. Limit changes of area and leave a break between visits.
Before a museum or monument, check the opening day, last admission, ticket conditions and booking. Public holidays, special periods and events can alter usual arrangements. Check the agenda for your stay dates too.
Dirhams, cards and budget
The currency is the Moroccan dirham, shown as DH or MAD. Keep a suitable payment option for small expenses; card acceptance varies by business. Check withdrawal fees and limits with your bank.
Before ordering or booking, ask what the price includes: drinks, packages, transfers or extras. For exchange, consult the tourist office information and your chosen bureau’s conditions; no fixed exchange rate is guaranteed here.
Internet, SIMs and offline maps
Before travelling, compare your operator’s roaming with a SIM or eSIM suitable for Morocco. Check phone compatibility for eSIMs. For any plan, compare included data, validity and calls rather than only the headline price.
Save your accommodation address, train ticket and main destinations offline. Café or accommodation Wi-Fi depends on the venue’s services; ask before relying on it for navigation.
Cars, parking and luggage
If arriving by car, ask your accommodation where to park and on what terms. At a shopping centre or station, check the entrance, operating hours and current price. A Maps route does not guarantee an available parking space.
For arrival before check-in or departure after check-out, ask whether your accommodation can store luggage and under what conditions. Do not plan a walk on the assumption that every station offers lockers. Large bags can make narrow lanes harder to navigate.
Children, walking and access
Choose the number of stops according to your group and its walking capacity. A rest area, toilets and a meal break may matter more than an extra attraction. Ask restaurants about children’s facilities before booking.
For a stroller or wheelchair, confirm the exact entrance, steps, lifts and toilets with each venue. Photos and a nearby transport stop do not guarantee access to the whole visit. On the coast, adapt the programme to wind and conditions on the day.
Visiting and photography
In a residential neighbourhood, ask before photographing people or a shop interior. Follow museum, memorial-site and staff instructions. Check access conditions before visiting religious sites.
Keep the destination’s exact name in French or Arabic when asking directions. An address screenshot helps more than a neighbourhood name alone. Agree on a clear meeting point before splitting up a group.
Documents and formalities
Entry arrangements depend on your nationality and circumstances. Consult the authorities and portal linked by the Moroccan tourist office before departure; this page does not replace checking your travel documents.
Keep booking confirmations accessible. The regional tourism council’s brochure can complement your plans with ideas for Rabat and its surroundings.
