Hassan Tower
Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum are close together, but give each its own time. Look at the esplanade and columns before checking access to the mausoleum. Together they form a clear sightseeing stop without a long sequence of transfers.
To extend the day, choose either a riverside walk or a cultural visit in the centre. The Mohammed VI Museum is a separate stop; it is not a museum on the monument esplanade. Plan that journey separately.
A little history
The tower and mosque remains tell the story of an unfinished Almohad project from the late twelfth century. The mausoleum belongs to a much more recent period. Visiting both helps distinguish their different eras rather than treating them as one monument.
An idea for a walk
- Start at Hassan Tower and take time to look at the columns and esplanade.
- Continue to the mausoleum, following access instructions and respecting the setting.
- Finish with a walk towards the river or head into the centre, depending on your time and chosen transport.
Before you go
Allow roughly an hour for the two principal monuments, then add time for your onward route. Open spaces may be sunny, so leave room for a break. For the tram, check stations and direction in our transport guide rather than relying on the neighbourhood name alone. Dress respectfully and follow staff instructions at the mausoleum.

A break for food
A riverside or city-centre break can complement the visit. Before heading to Le Dhow, check the menu and booking arrangements. For a shorter coffee stop, choose somewhere on your onward route rather than adding a detour.
