Andalusian Garden

Oudayas

Why visit

The Andalusian Garden offers a quiet pause within an Oudayas visit. Observe its paths, water and planting beside the historic walls. It suits a short walk and can be visited alone or combined with the Kasbah and museum.

A brief history

Although within the old Kasbah, the garden dates from the twentieth century. Visit Rabat places its development in the 1920s. Its layout draws on Hispano-Moorish garden principles, combining paths, water and organised planting within an enclosed space. It adds a recent layer to a much older neighbourhood and explains the contrast between fortified lanes and planted spaces.

What to observe

Look at path perspectives, the arrangement of spaces and the role of water and plants. Compare the garden with the walls around it. Stay on permitted paths and do not pick plants or enter protected areas.

Route and duration

Allow 30–45 minutes for walking and a break. Start here before the lanes or pause after the National Museum of Adornment. The garden, museum and neighbourhood have separate access conditions and schedules.

Getting there, hours and price

Visit Rabat lists avenue Al Marsa, daily opening 7 am–7 pm and free admission. Locate the entrance on Maps before entering the Kasbah. Free garden access does not include a museum, café or guide.

Families, weather and access

Take water and choose daylight. Children can look for shapes and colours without touching plants. Check ground conditions after rain and shorten the visit in heat. Ask about the suitable entrance and steps for a wheelchair; complete step-free access has not been confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

The tourism listing does not mention booking for an ordinary stroll. You can choose the garden without adding every Oudayas attraction. Treat it as a heritage garden and follow posted rules rather than assuming it is a playground.
